Conceived and Written by Jim Caron
Music and Lyrics by Michael McGill and Jim Caron
Deep in the salty waters of the Sassafras Sea, there lived a Little Mermaid. Her name was Celia. She lived for music. In fact, it was said that she had the loveliest scales in all of the Deep. Celia and her three sisters were allowed one visit to the World Above, each on their sixteenth birthday, to learn the secrets of life on dry land. Their discoveries included ferocious dragons, advancing armies and, of course, a handsome and resourceful Prince Charming. In a new version of the age-old tale, lots of music, plot surprises and humor await the audience.

August
Pittsburgh City Theater’s Carlyn Aquiline presents “From Page to Stage”
Commonwealth Speakers Series
Friday, August 28, 7pm
FREE TO THE PUBLIC!
Of all forms of literature, drama may be the most involved with community life, transforming issues of social significance first expressed on the page into live, public performance. Carlyn Aquiline's presentation shows how a professional theatre company transforms a written text into what an audience sees on stage. Asking participants to join in as actors in scene readings, Aquiline will suggest how a reader of a script can imagine it as a stage performance. She will then guide members through the production process (using costume sketches, set models and lighting plots) to illustrate every step—from casting to rehearsal to the final production. Some fascinating stage tricks using real props, costumes and set materials will be revealed. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and Elizabeth Area Community Development Corporation.
